FMCSA Revokes Five More ELDs: Replace Them by October 6
What happened;
On August 6, 2026, FMCSA removed five electronic logging devices from its registered ELD list for failing to meet the minimum requirements in 49 CFR Part 395, Appendix A. The revoked devices are:
Moonlight ELD (MRS255)
HGRS ELD (HRS169)
Highest ELD (HIG385)
Truckford ELD (TRS263)
Sparkle ELD (SPARK6)
This is the second revocation wave this year. In July, FMCSA revoked ten devices, with a replacement deadline of September 8 that has already passed. Since January 2025, the agency has revoked 95 devices.
What it means for carriers
Carriers get 60 days from an FMCSA revocation notice to replace the device. That clock runs out October 6, 2026. On or after that date, a driver using one of these five ELDs is treated as operating without a compliant record of duty status — a 49 CFR §395.8(a)(1) violation, enforceable as out-of-service at roadside.
What to do
Check the ELD model in every truck against FMCSA's current registered devices list.
If you're running one of the five revoked devices, discontinue it now and use paper logs or logging software to record hours of service in the meantime.
Install a compliant ELD from the registered list before October 6.
Don't assume your device is safe because it was compliant when you bought it. FMCSA keeps pulling devices, so checking the registered list should be part of your routine compliance reviews.
